Mayfair has extensive experience rehabilitating historic and/or tax credit eligible buildings into income producing properties. Mayfair leverages the state and federal tax credit incentives. These tax credits must be utilized to deliver favorable project returns to investors and Mayfair’s team is well versed in the process to secure the credits.

What are Historic Tax Credits?

Historic tax credits are created by the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives program administered by the IRS and National Park Service. An income tax credit in the amount of 20% of the Qualified Restoration Expenses is available for the rehabilitation of historic, income producing buildings that are determined to be certified historic structures. The rehabilitation work must comply with the Secretary’s Standards for Rehabilitation to receive the credits.
